Cruise Transfer
There are a range of transfer options available to those
embarking on a holiday cruise from one of the UK`s many
ports. Holidaymakers can choose to travel independently to
their cruise ship from home by road, rail or air. However
travelling by train or plane creates the problem of transfer
from the railway station or airport to the cruise ship. It
is always advisable to arrange transfer to your cruise ship
with a reputable transfer company who will ensure that you
do not miss your connection and will endeavour to provide a
comfortable and pleasant start to the holiday.
A transfer company will typically offer a return or one-way
journey service including pick up from an airport or railway
station, in a limousine with a chauffeur. Many companies
even provide chauffeurs who are multi-lingual. Transfer
journeys include travel to and pick up from hotels in the
case of travellers who decide to stay overnight prior to or
following a cruise.
In addition, many companies offer a door-to-door service.
Other transfer services available include hub to port
systems where travellers make their own way to coach hubs
located throughout the UK and are transported to the cruise
ship in a luxury coach. There may be several stops to
collect passengers at other coach hubs along the way.
Passengers can also be collected from home and driven to a coach hub via a shared door to door service and may find
themselves sharing a chauffeur driven car with others
heading in the same direction depending on car availability.
This service is also available as a direct route to the
cruise ship. Here, a private door to door service collects travellers from their home and drives them directly to the
cruise ship. There are baggage restrictions to comply with
and baggage may be loaded and unloaded by the coach driver
or private car chauffeur. There is usually a small
additional charge for extra luggage. Other forms of transfer
transport to and from the port may include mini buses and
mini vans.
Understandably, cruise ship passengers worry about whether
they will miss a flight or train on their return to port,
but booking with a reliable cruise transfer service removes
the stress at the start and finish of a cruise. This is a
great way of avoiding the huge queues waiting for taxis port
side at the end of a cruise holiday, which could so easily
cause a missed connection.
Transfer services are available from London`s Heathrow,
Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and City airports to Dover and some
transfer service companies can also provide taxi cabs. For
those people looking for greater independence, a further
option for transfer to the port and cruise ship is via car
hire. Dover is, after all, only 80 miles from the
centre of London.
Ultimately, whatever form of transport you choose, it is
always best to plan ahead. Anything has to be better than
queuing at a taxi rank, an airport or railway station as
this could result in long delays and the risk of arriving at
port late. |
